When the Subject of the Verb is the doer of the action, the verb is said to be in Active Voice. Sentences in the active Voice have a clear, direct, and strong tone.
When the Subject of the Verb is the receiver of the action, the verb is said to be in Passive Voice.
Rules for Interrogative Sentences
- In ‘Do’ form
A: Did/Do + Subject+ Verb (I-form) + Object?
P: Is/Am/Are/Was/Were + subject + verb(III-form) + by object?
For example:
A: Did Ram write a letter?
P: Was a letter written by Ram?
A: Do you do your work on time?
P: Is your work done by you on time?
- In ‘Has’ form
A: Has/Have/Had + subject + verb(III-form) + object?
P: Has/Have/Had + subject + been + verb(III-form) + by object?

A: Has Ram written a letter?
P: Has a letter been written by Ram?
A: Have you completed your work?
P: Has your work been completed by you?
A: Had Ram written a letter?
P: Had a letter been written by Ram?
- In ‘Helping verb’ form
A: Is/Am/Are/Was/Were + subject + verb(ing-form) + object?
P: Is/Am/Are/Was/Were + subject + being + verb (III-form) + by object?

A: Is Ram writing a letter?
P: Is a letter being written by Ram?
A: Was Ram writing a letter?
P: Was a letter being written by Ram?
- In ‘Modal’ form
A: Modal + subject + verb(I-form) + object?
P: Modal + subject + be + verb(III-form) + by object?

A: Will Ram write a letter?
P: Will a letter be written by Ram?
A: Could you read the book?
P: Could the book be read by you?
- In ‘Wh-‘ form
A: Wh-word + helping verb + subject + verb(I-form) + object?
P: Wh-word + helping verb + subject + verb(III-form) + by object?

A: When does Ram write a letter?
P: When is a letter written by Ram?
A: How is he reading the book?

- In ‘Who’ form
A: Who + verb + object?
P: By whom + helping verb + object + verb(III-form)?
