When the Subject of the Verb is the doer of the action, the verb is said to be in Active Voice. Sentences in the active Voice have a clear, direct and strong tone.
When the Subject of the Verb is the receiver of the action, the verb is said to be in Passive Voice.
Rules for Affirmative Sentences
Sentences are converted from Active to Passive and vise versa according to the tense form.
1). Simple Present Tense
A: Subject + verb(1st form) + object.
P: Subject + is/am/are + verb(3rd form) + by + object.
For example,
A: Ram writes a letter.
P: A letter is written by Ram.
2). Present Continuous Tense
A: Subject + is/am/are + verb(ing) + object.
P: Subject + is/am/are + being + verb(3rd form) + by + object.
For example,
A: Ram is writing a letter.
P: A letter is being written by Ram.
3). Present Perfect Tense
A: Subject + has/have + verb(3rd form) + object.
P: Subject + has/have + been + verb(3rd form) + by + object.
For example,
A: Ram has written a letter.
P: A letter has been written by Ram.
4). Simple Past Tense
A: Subject + verb(2nd form) + object.
P: Subject + was/were + verb(3rd form) + object.
For example,
A: Ram wrote a letter.
P: A letter was written by Ram.
5). Past Continuous Tense
A: Subject + was/were + verb(ing) + object.
P: Subject + was/were + being + verb(3rd form) + by + object.
For example,
A: Ram was writing a letter.
P: A letter was being written by Ram.
6). Past Perfect Tense
A: Subject + had + verb(3rd form) + object.
P: Subject + had + been + verb(3rd form) + by + object.
For example,
A: Ram had written a letter.
P: A letter had been written by Ram.
7). Simple Future Tense
A: Subject + will/shall + verb(1st form) + object.
P: Subject + will/shall + be + verb(3rd form) + by + object.
For example,
A: Ram will write a letter.
P: A letter will be written by Ram.
8). Future Perfect Tense
A: Subject + will/shall + have + verb(3rd form) + object.
P: Subject + will/shall + have + been + verb(3rd form) + by + object.
For example,
A: Ram will have written a letter.
P: A letter will have been written by Ram.
Note: Some affirmative active voice sentences cannot be converted into their passive form so they are written as it is. They are:

- Future Perfect Continuous Tense
